JOAQUIM “PURITO” RODRÍGUEZ
Joaquim Rodríguez Oliver is a
catalan professional cyclist who was born in Parets del Vallès in 1979. He
started riding a bike when he was 5 years old. When he was a child, he was a
great talent on bike and a lot of junior cycling teams began to observe
Joaquim. Finally, on 2000, he signed by a professional spanish team called
Once, and he started his professional career. Later, he rode with another spanish
famous professional, Caisse d’Epagne. But on 2009, Joaquim took the most
important decision of his life, he signed by a russian team called Katusha Team.
This decision will be the best initiative of his life; when he started ride
with Katusha Team, Joaquim became one of the best cyclists in the world.
During his stage in Katusha Team, he
has won a lot of races. In 2012, he won the classics races “Fleche Wallonne”
and “Giro di Lombardia” and he finished in the second place in the “Giro d’Italia”
and third in “La Vuelta a España”, two of the three most famous three-week
races. What’s more, “Purito” won the UCI World Tour ranking in 2010, 2012 and
2013. This ranking determines the best cyclist of the season. He also won the “Volta
a Catalunya” in 2010 and 2014. In 2013 Joaquim had his best season. He finished
in second place in the World Championships and in the most famous cycling race,
“Le Tour de France”.
“Purito” Rodríguez stands out as a
fantastic climber cyclist and a very charismatic person. He’s a very joker
person too.
